Somali Y Haplogroups

We’re expecting the Big-Y results for the new Harti Abgaal brother very soon. Based on what we know, his results should line up with the other Harti Abgaal under E-Y177088 and fit within the Hiraab group.
Once those results are in, I think it will become much easier to predict which kits are likely to match the samples under E-FT77328, just from Y37 results.

Here is what the SAPP tool predicted.

That’s great information and because of current test we have (and one almost completed) the SAPP tool will better able to predict others that may fall under this clade in the future. Another reason we need more folks to test!

I wonder if you are able to try this with the newest Habar Gidir sample? Where does it place him?

The Cayr brother on YFull and the Sacad on FTDNA will probably match with a genetic distance of about 5–7. The Saleebaan brother looks a bit further away, but he may still belong in the same group because of shared stable STR markers.

The SAPP tool gives the most reliable results when it has data from at least two possible branches. Since we don’t yet have Big-Y results from Habar Gidir with good STR data, its predictions in this case may not be fully accurate.

For this run, I used the STR data from the Cayr sample on YFull. To cover the missing values, I filled them in with the most common STR values observed across the project.

Finally! It looks like he’ll be forming a new branch with the other Harti Abgaal on FTDNA, and possibly on YFull as well. He’s now placed under E-Y177088.

@BluSkee when you get a chance, could you please add his country, region, and clan details? For reference, I have his clan listed as: Hawiye > Hiraab > Abgaal > Harti Abgaal. Please try to keep the same format.

Asc wll hope all is well! Yes FTDNA takes sooo long now-not sure what exactly they changed and the benefits to us lol. But alx at least we have the results. And he is live on Somaliy 👏🏾! Appreciate your work always!

Oh and Insha Allah I will add his info as you described, thanks! I plan on purchasing the BAM file soon as well!

We have new Big Y results on FTDNA for an unknown individual, and he will be forming a new branch with @BluSkee's uncle. What a great surprise!

Yes, he’s part of the Somali project. I’m not sure who he is, I actually asked you about him a while back, but you said you didn’t know either.
 
That is definitely a great surprise! He might be another Xawadle but we can’t be 💯 until he verifies! How cool!

I don't know if he is Xawaadle, but they share at least 12 SNPs.
