Somali Y Haplogroups

Congratulations on your bigY! How long has it been since you’ve been waiting on the data. It doesn’t typically take very long.

The 'Completed' popup showed up yesterday. Any idea how long it usually takes to get access to results after that?

It can range from 3 or so days to 2 weeks.

@BluSkee and @Koombe. what do we know about Kit# MK79018? Can you also check if he’s planning to do the Big Y test? He’s got some close matches.

Yes he is a Cadcade Omar Tumaal brother. We are trying to get a second 37 marker test to verify. We were talking about possibly upgrading him to big y as well if another matches. He seems to match groups who are under E-Y219427.

@Malawax
We are now three with T2T upgrades in our Harti group E-FT24258 myself and two others that i convinced.
(iam messaging as many people as possible to upgrade)

I appreciate your work, brother! We need to move as many people as possible to T2T. Another low-hanging fruit is converting VCF samples to BAM format, as 34% of the E-V32 samples are still in VCF.

Here is a breakdown of the file reference for E-V32 samples.

Yes, he's a great candidate for an upgrade since we need more samples in that branch. I made a quick program that shows the five closest kits to a 37-marker profile, and here’s what came up for him. The program might not be completely accurate, but it gives a good idea.

That’s awesome 🔥 👏! Did you get a degree in computer programming or computer related area? Masha Allah.

Yes we want to eventually upgrade it insha Allah. It was one of the kits I was telling bulletproof to explain to Madaafic the Tumaal brother who helped upgrade the Tuur Yar kit why this kit would be a great candidate. The issue is we need to assure that CadCade Omar and Omar Cade are different lines because Omar Cade are always J1.

Yes, I work in software development as my day job. Thank you

My FTDNA results are in, and I’m planning to upload them to YFull. I’ll be comparing them with the two other BAM files I’ve already uploaded. So, if you notice a new sample in the next day or so, don’t get too excited—it’s just me!

I believe it will be ready within the next couple of weeks. Although they're estimating a processing time of 7 to 11 weeks, I think it will likely be closer to 6 weeks.

Update these dates to give future testers a clearer understanding of how long the FTDNA Big Y process typically takes.

FYI: The new sample YF132216 is my FTDNA sample.

I see you have this info (E-Y18629/E-Y484733) in you yfull sample. Does it mean you are positive for Y484733?

No, brother, it means they can't confirm whether I'm positive for Y484733 because it's a T2T-only SNP, and my BAM file is currently referenced to Hg38.
In case you didn't know, the Aw-Hassan brother upgraded to T2T, which is why he's now in the paragroup.

@Malawax
Congrats(y) You have created a new Subclade of E-Y8629. Can you help us explain,what changed for
yfull to give you subclade this time? And who is your march?

It seems I've formed a branch with my other sample. If that's the case, I will only receive a parent branch going forward, as no one will be closer to me than my 'twin' sample. However, this new branch provides SNPs that future testers can check to determine if they belong to this branch. I'll investigate further after the sample analysis is completed and update you on the approximate TMRCA for this new branch.

Could everyone please join my new YFull group, SomaliY? Joining this group will help me identify potential matches between YFull samples and unmatched FTDNA kits.

A lot has changed since yesterday. Does anyone have any information about this sample YF132276 under the new branch E-BY8111?
